Pet Portraits in Oil
Hi my name is Richard Lithgow my love for animals has inspired me to create portraits of them. My work is realistic, and I am trained in a traditional approach and my love for the old masters (Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Daumier) shows through in my work. The comments I get the most is that I manage to capture their personality in my paintings.
I have an extensive background in the art world with many years of presenting my art in galleries throughout the USA. My art studies include work at the Art Students League in NYC, Cornell University, and formal training with private teachers. However, my main influence was through mentor Joe Occhupinti, a fellow member of the world-renowned Salmagundi Club in Manhattan, where my work hangs honorably. I've won numerous awards throughout the United States for both my wildlife paintings and human subject matter.
If you are interested in having a portrait of your pet please let me know, I'd love to work with you on creating a portrait of your fur baby. Just click on the commissions drop down.
